There is purpose & a story behind this photo that is a reminder of resistance, love & resilience.  This purse is not just a purse & means much more than that. 

This picture is me working on my first cow•môswa 2021 in my backyard in the city when my neighbours called fish and wildlife (F&W) for tanning hides in my backyard on so called Canada Day.  It was hard facing discrimination based on my cultural practices & them trying to enforce F&W to get us to stop our ways of knowing.  I find this picture as a reminder never give up, as much as life is hard… just remember all our ancestors who fought so hard for us to be here, they have fought so much against oppression & legislation that tried to stop of cultural practices.  Know they’re smiling down and so-so proud of you.
